Fiber Optic Testers
An OTDR (optical time-domain reflectometer) sends light pulses into a fiber and shows where splices, connectors, bends and breaks are, and how much loss each one adds. Every OTDR here also includes an optical power meter and most include a visual fault locator and a stable light source.
- Choosing a wavelength: 1310/1550nm models test dark fiber during construction and repair. 1610nm models can test live fiber while 1310/1490/1550nm traffic is still running.
- Choosing dynamic range: 20–28dB covers FTTH drops and campus links; 32–34dB models reach long-haul and metro routes.
- RSO-2800, RSO-4000, RSO-5100 and RSO-6200: dedicated fiber OTDRs, from pocket-size to the 7-inch RSO-6200 with 0.8m event dead zone.
- RSO-50, RSO-51 and RSO-73: OTDRs that also test copper: cable tracer, wire map and, on RSO-51, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ45 TDR.
- RSO-5500, RSO-5510, RSO-6500, RSO-6510 and RSO-6800: Android OTDRs that also test IP cameras (RSO-6800 up to 8K), with PoE output; 5510 and 6510 add TVI / CVI / AHD.
