Field troubleshooting guide
PoE is not powering the camera
Check the camera power requirement against the source, then isolate the cable and PoE port.
This is a field-check procedure. The website is not connected to, monitoring, or testing your camera.
When this guide applies
A PoE-powered IP camera does not boot or loses power after connection.
Initial checks
- Read the camera label or manual for its required power mode and maximum draw.
- Check the switch or injector port and its available power budget.
If you need a substitute PoE source for isolation, the IPC-9800ADH-PRO+ lists high-power PoE output: 55V, Max 90W. Check the camera's required PoE mode and power before connecting it. This is the tester's output specification, not a measurement of the camera's live power draw.
Follow the symptom
No power indicator
Check: Try a known-good cable and another compatible PoE port. If the manual permits, test with the specified local power supply.
Interpretation and next step: Power with a different source isolates the original port, injector, or cable for further testing.
Starts, then reboots
Check: Compare the camera’s required power with the source budget and inspect the cable and connector.
Interpretation and next step: A stable result with a compatible higher-capacity source suggests a budget or cable-loss issue; confirm against camera documentation.
