Field troubleshooting guide

IP camera has no video

Check power and link first, then open the camera directly before testing its video stream.

This is a field-check procedure. The website is not connected to, monitoring, or testing your camera.

When this guide applies

An IP camera is connected, but no live image appears on the tester, browser, or recorder.

Initial checks

  1. Check the camera power and network LEDs or the switch port status.
  2. Record the camera IP address and confirm the tester is on the intended network.

Follow the symptom

No power or link

Check: Try a known-good cable and a suitable power source or PoE port. Check the camera power requirement before applying power.

Interpretation and next step: If the camera starts, isolate the original cable, port, or power budget. If it stays off, follow the camera maker’s hardware procedure.

Link is up, but no image

Check: Open the camera web interface or its approved client. If accessible, verify stream enablement and the credentials used by the viewer.

Interpretation and next step: A working direct view points toward client, stream, or recorder settings; failure in every client calls for camera-side checks.
