Field troubleshooting guide

Camera cannot be discovered

Confirm power, link and IP reachability before treating ONVIF discovery as a camera fault.

This is a field-check procedure. The website is not connected to, monitoring, or testing your camera.

When this guide applies

An IP camera is missing from a tester or recorder discovery list.

Initial checks

  1. Confirm camera power and link.
  2. Check the tester and camera IP ranges, VLAN, and known camera address.

Follow the symptom

Known IP does not respond

Check: Check addressing, cable, switch port and network isolation with the network owner.

Interpretation and next step: Restore basic IP reachability before investigating discovery.

IP works, but discovery is empty

Check: Check whether discovery is enabled on the camera and whether multicast discovery can cross the current network segment.

Interpretation and next step: Direct IP access with failed discovery narrows the issue to discovery configuration or network filtering; do not assume ONVIF conformance.
